Speed Trainers USA 2011 Spring Break Speed and Skills Camp -- Day #1 Curriculum
Day #1 intention -- Fun, Learning and Familiarity with Format and Expectations.
Arrive: 8am-8:15am
Set Up: 8:15am-8:50am
Coaches
Check In: 845am -- 9:10am
Chochi
Warm Up: 9:05am-9:20am
Ken and Jake
Skills Drills: 9:25am -- 9:45am This is the 'Skill of the Day' we build our drills around...
Passing -- standing at one gate for one and two touch passing variations. Passing through gate one touch. One player passes throught the gate the other passes around the gate. Competitions: everyone moves and passes through random gates for two minutes.
Water Break: 9:45am- 9:55am Coaches create teams of 5 or 6 players
Team Skills Game: 9:50am-10:20am
Passing through gate with runs around cones/hurdles/etc. -- 2 minute games or specific # of accurate passes. Teams must count out loud the number of accurate passes or they are disqualified.
Point system for competitions are 1st place = 1 point, 2nd = 2 point 3rd = 3 points…
Team with the least amount of points at the end of the week wins a prize!
Snack time: 10:20am-10:35am
Coaching Staff adjust teams according to previous competitions so they are as close to equal as possible throughout the week. Note: one player will be starting her first day on Tuesday.
Speed Training: 10:35am-11am
Lean-Fall-Runs (LFR) "Gravity Runs" -- Teach technique and two start variations and then get back into teams and compete on LFR agility course.
Water Break: 11am-11:05am Coaches re-evaluate teams to make them fair and competitive.
Age Group Games: 11:05am-11:30am
Break up teams into 3 different age groups and play 4 goal games with passing option to score goals, i.e. 4 passes also = one goal. I call this "skill theme games" passing is the skill topic of the day so we add in extra points for executing this skill during competition.
Water Break: 11:30am-11:35am
Team Games: 11:35am-11:55am
Same as Age Group Games but with your teams
Wrap Up: 11:55am-12noon
Kids and coaches pack up, Chochi speaks with parents and helps organize carpools if needed.
